Check Out These Donuts in South Jersey

South Jersey is expanding its donut footprint, one mochi donut at a time.

This National Donut Day, which lands Friday, gets excited about two new additions to Cherry Hill.

This summer, Mochinut will open at Crossroads Plaza, next to a Rita’s of Cherry Hill and close to Ammon’s Mediterranean Market. (Owner Kevin Nguyen recently told the Courier Post that he plans to open another Mochinut in Voorhees in about four months.) And Mochi ring will also open a location in Cherry Hill.

Both stores will carry the ring-shaped donut with its soft, chewy interior. The donut is made with short-grain rice flour, which gives it that “chewy and stretchy” texture, water, sugar, and cornstarch.

“There’s a seductively sticky addiction to every bite; a completely different element of texture than yeast or cake donuts,” Mochinut’s website shares.

Mochinut donut flavors include black sugar, banana milk, red velvet, peanut butter, mango, and many more. Mochi Ring offers flavors like churro, brown sugar milk tea, taro, Oreo, ube (purple yams), and others.

Customers can also find Korean hot dogs (similar to corndogs) and bubble tea drinks on the menu at both stores.

Go: 871 Cooper Landing Road, Cherry Hill

While you wait for the mochi donuts to make their way to South Jersey, there are plenty more donuts – or donuts, if you will – to celebrate the nationally set aside day for this envy-worthy candy.

Here are some suggestions, including where to score a freebie.

Korean rice flour hot dogs are served at Mochinut, which comes to Cherry Hill in August.

Crust ‘N’ Krumbs Bakery, Vineland

This Vineland bakery offers creative donuts.

There’s the peanut butter and jelly donut with jelly inside and peanut butter on top, and an M&M donut, a white cream filled donut with chocolate icing and topped with colorful candies.

Oreo donuts, with vanilla or chocolate frosting and crushed Oreos on top, are also on the menu.

Duck fritters, Marlton

The store is also offering five guests the chance to win a dozen donuts with their photo raffles.

The Pina Colada donut is a fruity, tropical flavor topped with lemon glaze and shredded coconut.

And the chocolate covered strawberry donut will remind you of the chocolate covered treat.
