JetBlue launches air service between Milwaukee and New York, Boston

JetBlue Airways began service at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport on Sunday.

Airline starts service between Milwaukee and Boston Logan International and Milwaukee and New York John F. Kennedy International.

JetBlue’s Milwaukee flights will be operated on 140-seat Airbus A220s.

The arrival of JetBlue will also add more competition to Milwaukee airport.

The carrier will compete with Delta Air Lines on the Boston route. JetBlue will be the only airline to serve JFK. It will compete with Delta and United Airlines for nonstop service between Milwaukee and the New York metropolitan area.

Delta flies between Milwaukee and New York LaGuardia, and United flies between Milwaukee and Newark, New Jersey.

New York-based JetBlue bills itself as “New York’s hometown airline.”

His service to Milwaukee comes as the airport is is experiencing its busiest periodSpring Break.

The airline is on a growth trajectory and continues to return to pre-pandemic levels in terms of operations, according to the carrier’s website.

For the year 2022, the airline plans to increase its capacity between 11% and 15% compared to 2019 “as we bring the use of planes back to pre-pandemic levels…”, indicated the company.

JetBlue was founded in 2000.

The airline has six “target cities” which include New York, Boston, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, Los Angeles, Orlando and San Juan.

JetBlue is the country’s sixth-largest airline, according to the US Department of Transportation. The agency says JetBlue has 5.3% of the domestic market, measured by a metric known as revenue passenger miles.

Revenue passenger miles are basically a measure of the number of paying customers of an airline.

By comparison, the dominant airline in Milwaukee Mitchell International, Southwest Airlines, has 17.4% of the US domestic market. Southwest is second to American Airlines, which has 19.5% of the domestic market, according to Transportation Department figures.

JetBlue ranked 9th for on-time arrivals in the United States in 2021, with 72.3% of its flights on time, according to the United States

JetBlue had the 4th fewest canceled flights in 2021, with 1.62% of canceled flights.
