Student Loans Company is hiring for 150 new jobs based in huge Darlington office

A Darlington office is looking for “motivated and dynamic” workers to fill approximately 150 positions.

The Student Loans Company, which already employs 1,480 people at its Lingfield Point base, is looking for new recruits to fill various roles. The organisation, which provides loans and grants to more than two million students each year, has a total of 8.5 million customers and manages a huge loan portfolio of almost £180 billion.

Local people are already growing within the organization, with Danny Howell from Darlington, 26, currently studying for a degree apprenticeship in software development after joining in 2018. He joined as lead assessor before joining the Vulnerable Clients team, where his interest in computing was supported, Danny taking a distance learning software developer apprenticeship with the University of Roehampton.

After completing his course, he wants to play a central role in the Student Loans Company’s software development team.

Danny said: “I really wanted to grow and develop my knowledge and skills, but with family commitments I didn’t think that was an option. Doing an apprenticeship at SLC is the perfect arrangement – ​​I’ve been able to go back to school, grow in a field I’m passionate about, while still earning a salary that my family relies on. Without this opportunity, I could not have afforded a return to full-time studies as a conventional student.

Applications for current vacancies, which include client advisor and case manager positions, will close on April 30. These roles include assisting people through their student funding journey by providing information, answering questions and dealing with student inquiries, as well as being responsible for assessing and processing applications. eligibility and entitlement.
