World Distribution Services Adds Capacity to New Facility Near Port of New York/New Jersey
LINDEN, NJ – World Distribution Services announced upgrades to its new distribution facility based in Linden, New Jersey, providing additional warehousing capacity to the New York/New Jersey port community.
Additional shelving to maximize available space will allow for over 20,000 rack positions and 200,000 square feet for bulk storage.
Due to record demand caused by the disruption of the global supply chain, the Linden facility began accepting goods shortly after the space operation contract was signed.
It ran at full capacity, prompting additional space through improved shelving system.
“This is actually our ‘grand opening’ although we’ve been busy serving customers and adding space for the past six to 10 months,” said Dale Young, vice president of warehousing. and distribution of WDS.
The warehouse also offers:
- A fully staffed and operational facility;
- E-commerce capability;
- Traditional transhipment; and
- Operation seven days a week.
“WDS experienced tremendous growth in 2020, despite the logistics and supply chain challenges created by the global pandemic,” Young said.
“Our commitment to honoring customer requests to handle more volume, and the import boom has prompted us to accelerate our expansion plans near New Jersey’s vibrant container terminals. We anticipate partnership opportunities that will optimize this space.
WDS President Duncan Wright outlines the company’s growth plans: “We believe in the future of warehousing and distribution in major port hubs across the United States. Recent world events and the ongoing volatility within the container supply chain have highlighted the importance of having partners in port markets. WDS provides the right level of service, expertise and support when customers are looking for e-commerce, transshipment or distribution solutions.
Featuring 40 feet of clear height, 90 dock doors and ample trailer parking, the new warehouse is equipped to partner with customers on a variety of logistics and e-commerce needs.
